About

2022 SEASON BEGINS ON MAY 1

We were thrilled to be able to open for a shortened season in 2021, from July – October,  after missing all of 2020’s season due to the pandemic.  This season, in 2022, we will be open for a longer season starting May 1 and running through October.

We’re a free learn-it-and-do-it-yourself bicycle workshop located in downtown Waltham right on the riverside boardwalk at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation. We want to help people learn to work on their own bikes, and we’re everyone’s number one fan for encouraging bike riding.

In 2015, we appeared monthly under a shady tree at the Waltham Farmers’ Market, assisting passersby with everything from diagnosing shifting issues to changing grips. Thanks to the generous folks at the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation and the 128 Business Council, we’re now located at the Museum and are able to set up shop indoors or out, depending on the weather. We’re also grateful to The Jones Partnership Fund of First Parish in Waltham for financial support that allowed us to purchase bicycle tools and stands in 2016.

Come visit us and we will give you free advice on whatever ails your bike and show you how to fix it. We don’t  keep an inventory of many parts (e.g. new brake pads or chains), but usually can help you with repairs that don’t require such disposable parts.  For other repairs, we can tell you what you need, and if you bring us the new parts we can show you how to install them.

We hope to see you – bring your bike!

We welcome new volunteers – to make contact, click here or just drop by.
